How to Maintain Garments Quality in Apparel Industry

Garments quality control:
Quality control is a system of maintaining standards in manufactured products or services by testing a sample of the output against the buyer’s specification. Quality is the fitness for end use, fill up the requirements, the pursuit of excellence and it is the combination of design and color and properties of materials of a product.

In the apparel manufacturing industry, quality control is the technical process where substantiating garment quality and maintain the standard by quality control team. It is the method of verify the apparel quality up to output. In garment industry quality control is started from the initial stage of sourcing raw materials to the stage of final finished garment. Generally the activities of quality control are done after the production process.

Maintaining quality control in garment industry:
In garment industry, quality manager always maintain the all types of quality control activities for garment manufacturing. During production quality control team follow some advises to get high quality garment. Essential quality control advises are listed in below:
  • Read through P.O (production order shit)
  • Sample check (must)
  • Pattern check
  • Label check:
          - Name of label
          - Similarity with size and care label.
          - Main label ground and size label ground will be same.
          - Care instruction.
          - Placement of label.
  • Category of dress.
  • Check of fabric construction and count.
  • Thread matching.
  • Stitch per inch (S.P.I).
  • Number (part) matching 100%
  • Pocket shape will be as per sample.
  • Pocket placement should be as per sample.
  • Pocket should not up-down.
  • Flap shape need original.
  • Collar point should be equal.
  • Band peak need same shape in both side.
  • Cuff joint/ sleeve joint/collar joint must be proper.
  • Inlay should be properly.
  • Need back stitch starting and ending.
  • All double stitch should be even.
  • Joint position should be invisible but perfect.
  • Front fly should not be up-down.
  • Loop position must as per sample on instruction.
  • Stitch on loop must be tight.
  • Belt should even everywhere.
  • Front part should not up-down.
  • Two sleeve always even.
  • Check or strip matching.
  • Puckering stitch not allow.
  • All measurement must be look.
